The idea for this site was born out of frustration with an incompetent home inspection.

Every home inspector I've ever had has done a really good job except for one. And his error was a zinger.

I had a home inspected for sale and indeed sold the house. The house was only 6 years old and not surprisingly, the home inspection found only incidental problem of no real gravity.

What it didn't find was that the concrete slab foundation was cracked (the cracks were visible if you knew where to look) and the house was moving because of shifting soil beneath the slab. Within a year huge cracks in the walls and ceilings raised concern that the entire dwelling would have to be raised to the ground.

So, the idea of this site was to give people hints on how to choose a home inspector. Its a subject most people don't even think about. Indeed, most people let their real estate agent suggest a home inspector. After my experience, I think its more important to give people some really useful information so that hopefully they will not have to repeat my experience.
